Pihlajalinna acquires Kymijoen Työterveys

Pihlajalinna acquires the entire share capital of Kymijoen Työterveys Oy from the City of Kotka. The transaction was completed on 30 January 2018. The four clinics of Kymijoen Työterveys became part of Pihlajalinna’s chain of private clinics.

With the acquisition of Kymijoen Työterveys, Pihlajalinna expands its operations in the Kymenlaakso, Kotka and Kouvola areas, and realises its national expansion plan before the implementation of the healthcare and social welfare reform.

Kymijoen Työterveys is the largest occupational health service provider in Kymenlaakso. Kymijoen Työterveys has approximately 1,500 customer companies with nearly 24,000 employees. Kymijoen Työterveys has approximately 90 employees. These employees will work in Pihlajalinna’s service under existing employment agreement terms. Furthermore, Pihlajalinna has agreed to grant the employees protection against dismissal for two years.

”We are planning to expand Kymijoen Työterveys’ operations towards extensive services that are typical for private clinics,” says Joni Aaltonen, CEO of Pihlajalinna. ”At the same time, we want to offer the company’s current occupational health customers Pihlajalinna’s nurse call solution and remote doctor service with artificial intelligence assistance, for example.”

Kymijoen Työterveys has clinics in Kouvola, Kotka, Karhula and Hamina. Furthermore, the company has an occupational health care clinic in the Miehikkälä and Vironlahti health centres.
